It was an off day for the Sens today but the organization did hold a news conference with some information on the NHL All Star Game.
For the second straight season, a draft will be held to select teams. The event will be held on Thursday, January 26th at Casino Lac Leamy. On that same day, there are also festivities planned at the Rideau Canal which will include a display of each of the NHL's trophies.
If Sens fans keep up the voting and get Daniel Alfredsson into the NHL All Star Game, you would assume he'll have a chance to Captain one of the two teams. Go here to vote if you haven't already!
While it was disappointing to watch the Sens squander another third period lead, love the fight they showed to tie that game late. If this team can ever figure out how to hang on to a lead they will be in an extremely good position. Still an important single point though as Ottawa was able to hang on the 8th and final playoff position for another night.
After games on back to back nights, Paul MacLean elected to give his team a full day off.
The Sens are back in action tomorrow night when they host the red hot Vancouver Canucks. Canucks are 8-2-0 in their past ten games and are coming off a shootout win in Montreal last night.
- How about the season Milan Michalek is putting together? With his 18th last night, he took over sole possession of the league goal scoring lead and has already equaled his season total from last year.
- While we're on the subject of pleasant surprises, gotta love the recent rise of Jared Cowen. He lead all Sens with an incredible 31:42 in ice time last night and can expect his role to elevate even more if Sergei Gonchar is out for an extended period of time.
- Matt Carkner is expected to return to the line up tomorrow night. With the off day, there was no update on Gonchar's status but it sounded like Carkner was going to draw in anyway.
