Zub Closing in on Return to the Lineup

Given the general sense of chaos that has surrounded this team the last few weeks and the growing rage in segments of the fan base, it’s hard to imagine a better/worse time for a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The good news is (yes, such a thing still exists) that help may be on the way.

Artem Zub was in a regular jersey for the second straight day today and skated in his usual spot beside Jake Sanderson for all the drills. DJ Smith says he still needs official clearance from the medical staff but it certainly seems like he’s going to play tomorrow night in Toronto.

Zub.

Because it’s just the way things go these days, even the good news was wrapped in a bit of angst. We learned that both Mark Kastelic and Ridly Greig will be out for at least two more weeks. Not a huge surprise on either front but it’s the first time the team has put a general timeline on their return. And it ain’t soon.

At the same time, Jakob Chychrun was banged up a little bit in practice but it sounds like he’s fine and will play tomorrow night. Unless he falls down some stairs or something before then.
