End of the line for Christian Wolanin.
After clearing waivers last week, the Ottawa Senators have gone one step further. Christian Wolanin has been traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
In return, the Sens get Mike Amadio, a 24-year old right-shot centre that has appeared in 20 games with the Kings this season. He has 39 points in 168 NHL games. Amadio was a 3rd round pick of the Kings in the 2014 Entry Draft.
Unlike Wolanin who was set to be a UFA this summer, Amadio is still a restricted free agent.
There were high hopes for Wolanin coming into this season but he just never seemed to completely gain the trust of the coaching staff here in Ottawa. It’s a disappointing end to Wolanin’s time with the Senators but it did seem sort of inevitable after the way things went down last week.
We’ll see if the now 26-year old Wolanin has an opportunity to get his season and career back on track with the Kings.
