With the start of the regular season now just days away, the Senators are preparing for some bad news on the injury front.
DJ Smith provided a bit of an update on Colin White earlier today and while the details are still up in the air, it certainly doesn’t sound promising for the 24-year old centre.
According to the Head Coach, it “doesn’t look good” and although the team is still waiting for the results of an MRI, it does sound like surgery is a possibility and it’s almost certain that White will be out “long-term”.
Although Colin White is often a target for fan criticism, he is an important part of the team’s lineup. Especially when you consider that the Senators are already pretty thin down the middle.
Nick Paul moved to centre ice for a few shifts last night but it sounds like the injury to White opens up an opportunity for someone like Andrew Agozzino to find his way onto the roster. And although it felt like a slam dunk at this point anyway, it certainly suggests that Shane Pinto will start the year on the NHL roster.
Here’s how DJ Smith lined them up at today’s practice.
