Serves us right for trying to love again.
Just when it seemed like there was a glimmer of hope for Sens fans. When it seemed like the clouds were starting to clear. The hockey gods stepped in with more bad news.
Brady Tkachuk damaged a ligament in his leg during Monday night’s game against the Dallas Stars. While he won’t require surgery, the injury is expected to keep him out of the lineup for about a month. It seems like it happened during this relatively harmless collision with Blake Comeau in the first period.

Tkachuk finished the game and hit everything in sight the rest of the way which maybe didn’t help. That means he did THIS on one good leg.
Just 4 games into his NHL career, this feels like a typical shift for Brady Tkachuk. pic.twitter.com/MVT3RFOsoj

He also scored the game-winning goal, by the way.
Looking at the Senators schedule over the next month or so, it seems like the injury will force Tkachuk to miss 12-13 games. Here’s hoping the one month timeline is a worst case scenario and he can be back before that. Ottawa will certainly miss his presence in the line up.
Injuries are hitting the team in a big way right now.
Cody Ceci and Alex Formenton are both expected to be out this weekend. Ryan Dzingel and Max McCormick may be able to play Saturday but their status is still up in the air. Mark Stone missed practice today but should be fine for the weekend. Obviously Marian Gaborik and Jean-Gabriel Pageau are both out long-term. Meanwhile at the AHL/ECHL level, Logan Brown, Marcus Hogberg, Ben Sexton, Aaron Luchuk, Filip Chlapik, Jim O’Brien and Andrew Sturtz are all injured to varying degrees. Also, my shoulder kind of hurts.
Some early adversity for a team that has more than their fair share over the last year.
