For the better part of five years, there have been rumours about the future ownership of the Ottawa Senators.
Some based on fact. Some based on speculation. And some, pulled completely out of thin air. But this morning, the team itself made sure that this time, everyone knows it’s real. When, not if.
The Ottawa Senators are for sale.
Talk has picked up over the last week or so and this morning, the organization made it official.
Here’s how Sheldon Plener, chairman and governor of the Senators worded it…
“Galatioto Sports Partners has been retained as financial advisor and a process has been initiated for the sale of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club. This was a necessary and prudent step to connect with those deeply interested parties who can show us what their vision is for the future of the team. A condition of any sale will be that the team remains in Ottawa. The organization will have no further comment on this process at this time.”
While there are no timelines associated with this morning’s announcement, the belief is that this deal may actually come together pretty quickly.
There are a number of parties that have shown interest and now, with this morning’s announcement, they’ll have an opportunity to turn that interest into reality.
