Yesterday, we introduced a new feature here on SensChirp called “The Community”.
The idea is that we bring in people from in and around the Ottawa Senators – team employees, local media, digital content producers, philanthropists and other Sens personalities – and have them visit the SensChirp Comment Section.
Today at 1:00 PM, we’ll be joined by Ian Mendes, Vice President of Communications with the Ottawa Senators.
Everybody knows Ian. As one of Ottawa’s most respected media members, Ian spent a couple decades covering the team for multiple media outlets including Sportsnet, TSN 1200 and The Athletic. And in July of this year, he rejoined the Sens organization, this time as Vice President of Communications.
This is a unique chance to engage directly with one of the big wigs down at Sens HQ. And while he can’t fix Linus Ullmark and probably can’t comment on your trade proposals, this is an opportunity to ask Ian questions, to share suggestions that he can take back to the organization and to show Ian what this place is all about.
Today is a trial run of sorts. And there are some things that we’ll need to figure out as we go. But here’s how it’s going to work.
We’ll have the moderation feature turned on so that we can tee up the comments and questions a little bit and give a bit of order to the chaos. I will try to approve them as they come in though. Would encourage you to upvote your favourites as that will move them to the top of the pile when our guest rolls in this afternoon.
We obviously won’t be able to get to them all during the 30 minutes but the good news is, Ian is also going to stop by for a quick interview on The SensChirp Podcast (still a thing!) early next week so we should be able to get to more of them there.
The comment section is open now so feel free to submit your comments, questions and suggestions below at any point.
Welcome to…The Community.
