The Ottawa Senators have called a press conference for 9:15 AM this morning where they will make a significant hockey related announcement.
Lots of speculation this morning about what the announcement could be but the safe bet seems to be on announcing a new Captain. Chris Phillps and Erik Karlsson are considered the favourites for the role although the organization has also given some serious thought to the idea of going with just assistants this season. Others have speculated this could be related to the outdoor game in 2017 (unlikely because the league would be involved in that) or perhaps a signing of some kind.
Owner Eugene Melnyk will be in attendance for this morning’s announcement. My money is on a new Captain.
