I wanted to pass along the details of a cool event being organized by some of the other Sens bloggers. I mentioned this the other day but August is usually the least exciting month for a hockey fan. But thanks to the Sens Summer Fan Fest, we have something to help pass the time until training camp in September. Hope to see some of you there!
Details on the event can be found below…
Organized by Sens fans for Sens fans. Come out and spend a Sunday afternoon (Aug 17th, 1:00-5:00) with your fellow fans at MacLaren’s. There is no age limit for this event! Enjoy food and drinks while participating in panels, contests, and pool while raising money for The Ottawa Senators Foundation.
The day will be kicked off with the Red Scarf Union making a presentation on their new direction and they will be organizing the NHL 14 tournament (as of right now, you’ll sign up at the event itself for this tournament). There will be a trivia contest for everyone (with teams of up to four people). The winning team will come out with two pairs of preseason tickets and some additional raffle tickets.
Todd White will be swinging by, and Ian Mendes & James Gordon will be participating in a panel alongside Amelia (editor at Silver Seven Sens) which will be moderated by Graeme Nichols (editor at The 6th Sens).
To end the afternoon, there will be a raffle draw (we’ll be selling these raffle tickets at the event as well as 50/50 tickets). Two of the major prizes to be won are incredible original Sens drawings of Turris and Karlsson. There is also five pairs of Sens tickets for the upcoming season up for grabs, including a pair of glass seats (115 Row A) to a Leafs game. There will be six t-shirts up for grabs, more than 20 autographed items, RedBlacks tickets and much more.

-It may have been a World Junior Development Camp exhibition game, but last night I watched a hockey game. Team Canada’s line up included both Curtis Lazar and Nick Paul, acquired from Dallas in the Jason Spezza trade. Lazar and Paul both scored in a 6-2 rout of the Czech Republic. Full highlights are available here or you can just watch this nifty goal by Nick Paul over and over again.
