Of course Anisimov has $2 million in bonuses included in his salary for this year meaning the Sens do save a bit of money over the $3.25 mil they would have paid Zack Smith this season.
Higher cap hit, lower salary, better player. An easy one for the Senators, I would assume.
Zack Smith has been with the Senators organization since he was drafted way back in 2008. He’s played 612 games in a Sens uniform, putting up 193 points along the way.
His game has tailed off a little bit the last couple seasons though, to the point where the Senators put him on waivers early last year.
Anisimov had 37 points in 78 games last season.
