The Ottawa Senators have finally made it official.
Colin White has agreed to an amateur tryout agreement and will join the Binghamton Senators this week.
It’s great news for the organization as they finally lock up one of their top prospects. And the fact that it’s an ATO is great news for the Senators too as they felt strongly about not burning a year on White’s entry level contract.
From White’s perspective, it’s a chance to get a taste for the pro game in what really is a low pressure environment. By all accounts, White is an NHL ready prospect at this stage but it will be nice for him to have some AHL games under his belt leading into next year.
White could still sign play games in Ottawa down the stretch or in the playoffs but he’d have to sign an entry level deal first.
Binghamton’s next game is on Wednesday against the Syracuse Crunch.
