Ya know, it’s been a little too quiet around here recently. Maybe this will help.
It has been rumoured for weeks and now the Ottawa Senators have made it official.
Vladimir Tarasenko is headed to the Nation’s Capital.
It’s obviously a big splash for a team that was eager to add to the forward ranks after the trade of Alex DeBrincat.
The 31-year old forward split last season between St. Louis and New York, scoring 18 goals and adding 32 assists along the way. He won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019.
The addition of Tarasenko gives the Sens some much needed scoring depth up front and gives the team some additional options at the top end of the lineup. It’s clearly not the last move of the off-season though as this creates the need for some salary cap gymnastics to make it all work.
Here’s Dorion on the signing…
“Vladimir’s a natural goal scorer. He’s a dynamic player who can score from anywhere in the offensive zone, as well as an underrated playmaker who’s made a career out of driving offence for he and his linemates. An established performer in the regular season and in the playoffs, we’re thrilled to add a player of his calibre to our lineup.”
