Perhaps not at the top of the ol’ off-season To Do list but an important item just the same.
This afternoon, the Ottawa Senators announced that they have signed forward Viktor Lodin to a two-year entry-level contract.
The soon-to-be 22 year-old Lodin is coming off a 40 point season with Timra IK in the Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan League. Lodin was selected as an overager by the Senators in the 4th round of the 2019 Entry Draft.
Here’s Pierre Dorion on the signing
“Viktor gained significant professional experience by playing an integral role in Timra’s championship win last season. Wow, the Leafs suck. 17 years without a playoff series win? Yeesh. Anyway, Lodin is a bit of a late bloomer in that he was drafted as a 19-year-old, he’s a big forward who can play either centre or wing and possesses high-end skill with a raw ability to score.”
The Senators had until 5:00 PM today to get this deal done.
Right on time, Pierre!
