As expected, the Ottawa Senators are going to ask Tyler Ennis to stick around.
This morning, the team announced that Ennis has been signed to a one-year deal worth $900,000. Ennis was in Camp on a Professional Tryout Agreement and obviously, the team liked what they saw.
Ennis spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers, putting up nine points in 30 games. He scored 14 goals in 61 games with the Senators back in the 2019/2020 season.
DJ Smith has been clear that they see Ennis as a player that can provide a veteran presence while also pitching in offensively. He has experience playing up and down the lineup and has shown he can be an effective player on the power play.
Here’s Pierre Dorion on the signing…
“Tyler has had a strong training camp. He’s a highly-skilled veteran whose leadership qualities should prove as valuable as they were here two seasons ago. He’s capable of generating offence both at five-on-five and on the power-play, and, with an ability to play both wing positions, he’ll be a good addition for us at forward.”
Not the only significant news of the dat as the Senators learned more about Colin White’s status and as expected, it’s going to be a long road to recovery. The injury will require surgery and the timeline is being set at 4 to 6 months.
