(UPDATE 4:30 PM)- The process of adding to the team in Belleville continues. This afternoon, the Senators announced the signing of defenceman Dillon Heatherington and forward Kole Sherwood. Both players get one-year, two-way contracts.
Heading into Day 2 of free agency, it felt like it was only a matter of time before the Ottawa Senators made a splash.
With a seemingly excessive collection of defenceman on the roster and a stated desire for a centre that could play on the top two lines, it sounded like there was a chance Pierre Dorion might be active.
Okay, not exactly what we had in mind. Some much needed forward depth for the team in Belleville though.
Aberg is now 27-years old and coming off a productive season Chelyabinsk in the KHL. He also has 137 games of NHL experience under his belt including stops in Nashville, Edmonton, Anaheim, Minnesota and most recently Toronto.
Like Andrew Agozzino, Aberg will be expected to provide some offensive punch to the team in Belleville.
Interestingly enough, Aberg is one of 786 NHLers to score their first career goal against the Ottawa Senators.
What’s next Pierre(s)?!
