Something tells me Sens news is going to be pretty hard to come by for the next few weeks so it’s best that we take what we can get around these parts.
And what we’re getting today is a completely out-of-the-blue signing of an unrestricted free agent. It may not quite be on par with the fireworks we saw early in free agency but it’s a signing just the same.
Today, the Senators announced that they have signed 26-year old forward Jayce Hawryluk to a one-year, two-way contract.
Hawryluk spent last season in Sweden and was with the Vancouver Canucks the year before that. I know what you’re thinking- is that the same Jayce Hawryluk that played for the Sens a couple years back? Well yea, it is. He suited up for 11 games as an Ottawa Senator back in the 2019-2020 season, tallying an impressive seven points along the way.
Hawryluk provides the team in Belleville with a little veteran scoring and provides me with an excuse to finally write a new post. It’s a win-win really.
