Unlike the last couple years, it seems like the NHL Trade Deadline has sort of snuck up on us.
While the Senators have a couple players that may be of interest to playoff-bound teams, it’s certainly not the excitement and drama we’re used to around these parts. And the fact that the top guy on TSN’s Trade Bait was someone you easily could have convinced me retired years ago, suggests it’s not just Ottawa that is experiencing a calmer Deadline Day.
But that doesn’t mean there won’t be a move or two.
And today, the Senators have made a minor transaction that suggests they may be moving a defenceman out in the lead up to the deadline.
Today, the Senators announced that they have signed defenceman Cody Goloubef to a one-year, two-way contract for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
With Mike Reilly, Erik Gudbranson and Braydon Coburn all expected to draw some interest, it certainly looks like the Senators are adding another body just in case they do move someone out today or tomorrow.
Goloubef, who has appeared in 20 games with the BSens this year on a PTO, is on waivers today.
Dominoes?!
