At least we always have something to talk about?
There have been rumours that Ottawa might be in the market for another centre and today we found out who they’ve had their eye on. And it’s uhh not Steven Stamkos.
According to Pierre LeBrun and Bruce Garrioch, the Senators have signed Alex Galchenyuk a one-year deal. He’ll make just $1.05 million.
File this one under low-risk and maybe some reward?
Galchenyuk had sky-high expectations early in his career but has bounced around a little bit the last couple seasons including mostly unsuccessful stops in Arizona, Pittsburgh and Minnesota. He did have 19 goals two years ago in Arizona though.
There were rumours a couple weeks back that Ottawa was looking into Galchenyuk and apparently, they liked what they heard. The Senators are hoping the now 26-year old Galchenyuk can recapture some of the magic from his time in Montreal, where he was a 30-goal scorer if you can believe it.
Galchenyuk had 24 points in 59 games last season.
