That’s more like it.
Twenty-four hours after a disappointing loss in Detroit, the Ottawa Senators rolled up their sleeves and got back to work against the Buffalo Sabres. And this time, they took care of business.
It was a huge two points in a game that had the feel of a must-win after letting one slip away on New Year’s Eve.
There has been a lot of talk about this team learning how to win in the last month or so and that type of “grind it out” effort against the red-hot Sabres is a clear sign that this group is really starting to get it. They won’t always be able to rely on out-scoring the opposition and sometimes, they need to just lock it down.
Mission accomplished last night.
On the heels of last night’s win, the Senators made a roster move sending Jacob Bernard-Docker back to Belleville.
It’s a sign that Erik Brannstrom is likely ready to return and really not an indication that JBD is struggling. Because honestly, his game has looked better than it ever has since his return from a lengthy injury. He’ll be back.
The Sens have a full day off today which means we can all “Have a beer. Relax” just like Claude suggested.
Back at it tomorrow against the Blue Jackets.
