With the injury situation somewhat unknown at this point, the Ottawa Senators have once again turned to Binghamton for a little help.
This evening, the Sens announced they have recalled forward Matt Puempel from Binghamton of the American Hockey League.
Mike Hoffman was on the ice for practice earlier today but had to leave before the skate was over. His status for Wednesday night is up in the air. Meanwhile Curtis Lazar is expected to miss some time after leaving the game against the Arizona Coyotes. Clarke MacArthur is also on the shelf and appears to be out long term.
The injuries aren’t good news for Dave Cameron’s team but do provide an opportunity for some of the young players that impressed in camp.
Puempel was in the mix for a roster spot this fall but ended up losing out to Shane Prince. The Senators made it clear when they sent Puempel down that he was probably going to get another opportunity and it certainly didn’t take long for that to happen.
Puempel has three goals and five points through six games with the BSens this season.
