This road trip has had both dizzying highs and punishing lows.
After reeling off an impressive six game winning streak, the Senators have stumbled recently. The loss to St. Louis on Friday night was particularly ugly and now means that the Sens have dropped two in a row and four of their last five.
With that said, they still have a chance to finish above .500 on the nine-game odyssey with a win in Detroit tomorrow night and they sit just one point outside of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
Right where we thought they’d be, really.
Injuries continue to be a big part of the recent struggles.
Yesterday we learned that Linus Ullmark falls into the category of “week to week”. Not ideal. Travis Hamonic has now joined him in the “week to week” category, with the expectation that he could miss up to a month. Both David Perron and Michael Amadio have been skating although based on today’s practice, it doesn’t seem like either of them is ready to return just yet.
Meanwhile, Nick Jensen had his own encounter with the flu that has been making its way around the locker room although he is back on the ice today. For now, anyway.
The curse that has fallen upon on right shot defenceman also struck Jacob Benard Docker at today’s practice.
With all that uncertainty, the Senators have turned to Belleville for some help, recalling both Jan Jenik and Nikolas Matinpalo.
Here is how Travis Green lined his team up at today’s practice.
