Facing elimination for the first time in the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs, the Ottawa Senators did something rather unusual today.
They held a practice.
Guy Boucher had his team on the ice today for a rare off-day skate and a full reload following a disastrous Game 5.
Unfortunately they were missing a few key guys as Erik Karlsson, Derick Brassard, Cody Ceci and Alex Burrows were all unavailable although Karlsson, Brassard and Ceci will all play tomorrow. Borowiecki is a possibility while Burrows is considered a long shot.
The Senators will be back on the ice tomorrow at 10:30 AM so we’ll have to wait until then to find out what Boucher has in mind for a line up.
While the Sens find themselves in an uncomfortable situation and on the ropes for the first time in this post-season, they still sound like a confident group heading into Game 6. Their effort yesterday afternoon was unacceptable and every player in that locker room knows it.
This team has come too far and fought too hard to not bounce back tomorrow night. Still plenty of tickets remaining for that one too.
If you can afford it, buy some tickets and support this team. They need their fans now more than ever.
