Senators, Penguins Schedule Released

The last Canadian team left standing.

After last night’s Game Seven loss by the Edmonton Oilers, the Ottawa Senators are now the only Canadian team left in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs.

And with that comes the always contentions label of “Canada’s team”.  Although to be perfectly honest, I really don’t care if the rest of the country rallies behind the Senators.  Sure we can find some room for them at the back of the bandwagon if they like but let’s make one thing clear- this is Ottawa’s team. And the failures of the other Canadian cities shouldn’t change that. But I digress.

Four teams left to battle it out for the hardest trophy to win in all of professional sports.  In the West, the Nashville Predators take on the Anaheim Ducks. While in the Eastern Conference, the defending Stanley Cup Champions take on our Ottawa Senators.

By this point, you all know the drill. Over the next couple days, the experts will make their predictions and as we saw in the first two rounds, they’ll probably be going with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Talented team, the defending Champions, just knocked off the President’s Trophy Winners…I’m sure you’re familiar with them.  And again, nobody will be giving the Senators much of a chance.

But after watching how the last two rounds played out, that’s just fine with me.

It all gets started on Saturday night in Pittsburgh. That’s right, a prime time game! Can’t hide the Senators in the afternoon anymore, NHL!

No skate for the Senators this morning but players will meet with the media at 9:30 AM and Pierre Dorion at 10:30 AM.

Will have a breakdown of this series in a little bit but in the meantime, here’s the schedule for the Conference Finals.
