(UPDATE 4:37 PM) – A hockey player with interest from 25 other teams has selected the Ottawa Senators. As rumoured earlier today, the Sens have signed Ottawa native Max Veronneau. He is expected to join the team at practice tomorrow.
While fans of other teams are distracted by silly things like playoff races, Sens fans get to turn their attention to what really matters.
NCAA FREE AGENCY! Feel the excitement.
Realistically, it’s pretty rare these players have an NHL impact right away but any time you can add a free prospect to the organization, it’s certainly worth a look.
And it makes even more sense for a rebuilding team like the Ottawa Senators. Not surprisingly, Pierre Dorion is making a push with at least one NCAA free agent and possibly more.
According to a report by Bob McKenzie, the Senators are one of 25 NHL teams to show interest in Princeton forward Max Veronneau. The 23 year old right winger and Ottawa native just wrapped up his fourth season at Princeton, scoring 13 goals and adding 24 assists in just 31 games.
Veronneau‘ s hometown Senators are believed to be making a major push to sign the 23-year-old, right shot, 6 foot, 180-pound, senior forward who had 13 goals, 37 points in 31 games for Princeton. Prior to playing at Princeton, Veronneau played for Gloucester Rangers in the CCHL.

According to McKenzie, the Edmonton Oilers are also showing interest. Veronneau attended rookie camp with the New Jersey Devils last summer and has previously been linked to the Los Angeles Kings.
Veronneau is considered one of the top free agents in this year’s class.
