After a couple departures this off season, the Senators desperately needed to add some support to the front office. And this morning, they did just that.
And it’s a familiar name.
Ryan Bowness has been hired as the team’s new Assistant General Manager. Bowness, the son of former Sens Head Coach Rick Bowness, was previously working as the Director of Pro Scouting with the Penguins.
With both Pierre McGuire and Peter MacTavish moving on this off season, the Senators have made it a priority to find some support for General Manager Pierre Dorion.
The 38-year old Bowness is expected to step into a similar role previously occupied by MacTavish.
Meanwhile, Trent Mann is also being promoted, as he also takes on the title of Assistant General Manager.
Here’s Dorion on the addition of Bowness and promotion of Mann…
“Trent’s promotion and Ryan’s hiring represent two significant additions of our front office staff. On top of the success they have achieved in NHL, both are excellent hockey minds, hard workers and quality leaders. Trent has shown to be one of the top evaluators of amateur talent in the industry and has progressed to become an invaluable resource to the entire organization. Ryan is a critical thinker whose experience will allow him to contribute to a wide variety of areas. His success in professional scouting along with his ability to communicate in detail makes him an ideal complement to our hockey group.”
Will be interesting to see if the Sens continue to add to the Front Office.
