A familiar name is joining the Ottawa Senators on the coaching side of the operation.
This morning, the team announced that Wade Redden has been hired as a Development Coach.
Redden has 1023 games of NHL experience under his belt including 838 in Ottawa colours. He racked up 410 points as a Senators, which sits 2nd to Erik Karlsson among defenceman.
While this represents a return to the Nation’s Capital, it’s not the first time Redden has taken on such a role. He previously served as the Assistant Director of Player Development with the Nashville Predators. Suspect we may hear about other former players rejoining the team in the days and weeks ahead.
Here’s Pierre Dorion on the hire…
“Wade’s addition is a significant one for our development staff. He’ll be especially integral in helping mold our prospects on defence. A leader throughout his playing career, we know the same qualities will translate very well in this new role.”
Wade will be on the ice when the team kicks off their Summer Development Camp this morning.
