Well that didn’t take long.
According to AJ Jakubec and Steve Lloyd down at TSN1200, the Ottawa Senators have fired Pierre McGuire from his role of uh whatever it was he was doing with the team.
McGuire was brought in last July to serve as the team’s Senior Vice President of Player Development and while he was seen regularly both in the press box and at games in Belleville, he seemed to be oddly quiet during his time with the Senators. At the time of his hiring last summer, the thinking was that it was Eugene Melnyk who pushed for the addition to the front office. While the Pierres said all the right things at the time, it did seem to create a strange front office dynamic and the potential for blurred lines in terms of who did what.
Will be interesting to see if the organization comments on this move any further or whether the plan is to just forget the whole thing ever happened entirely.
Sens news!
