Pierre Dorion’s search for the next Head Coach of the Ottawa Senators is well underway.
This morning, Darren Dreger confirmed that the interview process has already begun and that the Senators have already sat down with former Minnesota Wild Head Coach Mike Yeo. Their meeting took place on Sunday.
Bruce Garrioch suggests that interviews with Marc Crawford and Guy Boucher are expected in the near future.
It’s worth noting that Mike Yeo has one year remaining on his contract with the Minnesota Wild. At the time he signed that deal, it was believed to be worth about $1 million a season.
The Senators have mentioned that the Draft is a deadline of sorts to complete this process but it seems like Dorion isn’t wasting any time. It certainly makes sense for the organization to at least wait until the end of the first round to see who else might be available. Bruce Boudreau could be looking for work if the Ducks are knocked out in round one. Assistant Coaches like Kevin Dineen in Chicago and John Stevens in Los Angeles would certainly be worth an interview.
Pierre Dorion will also be talking to possible candidates for the now vacant Head Coach position in Binghamton. Benoit Groulx, Head Coach of the recently eliminated Gatineau Olympiques, seems like a strong candidate for that job.
