Tomorrow, at the beautiful Canadian Tire Centre in scenic Kanata, Ontario, hope will spring eternal.
For it is the unofficial beginning of a new season- a year full of promise for our dear Sens. The Ottawa Senators will officially launch their Training Camp on Wednesday and in the process, launch our collective excitement levels directly up the roof.
A new season! Just around the corner!
Except, there’s one lingering problem. Just one thing missing. And he just so happens to be the face of the franchise and the team’s Captain-in-waiting.
Earlier today, the Senators announced their 54-player Training Camp roster and as you may have heard, it did not include Brady Tkachuk. Trust me, I checked a few times.
And so, this high stakes game of chicken enters a new and exhilarating stage. Like so many RFAs before him, Brady Tkachuk is using the only leverage he has in a situation like this- patience. And the Senators are left to do the same. It will all work out, of course. But it certainly makes for some uncomfortable moments for both sides.
Medicals and physical fitness testing on Wednesday morning. Honestly, I’d probably skip that too if I had the choice. The first on-ice sessions are scheduled for Thursday.
