The start of the regular season is now just eight days away which means the Senators will now begin putting the finishing touches on their roster.
And with that in mind, the Senators announced that they have sent seven more players down to Binghamton of the American Hockey League. Matt O’Connor, Max McCormick and Nick Paul have all been sent straight down while Mike Kostka, Fredrick Claesson, Eric O’Dell and Zack Stortini each have to clear waivers first.
In addition to those seven, the Senators all returned defenceman Thomas Chabot and his brand new entry level contract to the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL.
No surprises in today’s announcements. All eight of the guys sent down today made a good impression in this year’s training camp but none of them were really in the mix for a spot on the NHL roster.
Kostka certainly looks like capable substitute on the blueline though and both Eric O’Dell and Max McCormick could be call up options at some point this season.
After this morning’s announcement, the Senators now have a total of 26 players left in camp including 2 goalies, 9 defenceman and 15 forwards.
