Tim Murray has officially put his stamp on the Buffalo Sabres. And based on the rumours that are swirling around tonight, there may be lots more to come.
Ryan Miller is a member of the St. Louis Blues after a deal that sent Miller and Steve Ott to St. Louis in exchange for Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart, a first round pick in 2015 and a 3rd round pick in 2016. In most situations, a deal between the Blues and Sabres wouldn’t be worthy of a new post here on SensChirp but this is obviously a little different.
The Senators and Sabres have been linked in plenty of trade rumours the last month or so. And as you’ll recall, the Senators also had an interest in Chris Stewart in St. Louis. While now he’s in Buffalo and the sense around the league seems to be that it’s only a matter of time before the Senators and Sabres pull the trigger on a deal. Tim Murray knows Ottawa’s prospects real well and now can work on a deal with Uncle Bryan. Chris Stewart will be at the centre of that. Matt Moulson has been discussed. Same goes for Christian Ehrhoff.
Meanwhile the Senators have a number of prospects they’d be willing to part with, including Rochester native Shane Prince.
Of course, wouldn’t it be infinitely more interesting if BUF traded Stewart and Matt Moulson to OTT for a really big haul. Buckle up.
