The Ottawa Senators wrapped up their annual rookie tournament with a 5-4 shootout win over the rookies from the Chicago Blackhawks last night, finishing the tournament with a record of two wins and one loss.
Seventh round pick Francis Perron scored twice and Nick Paul scored this nifty little winner in the shootout.
With the rookie tournament in the books, the focus now shifts to the main camp which kicks off this week and the NHL preseason, which opens in less than a week. Off the ice, all the talk was about a wide ranging interview with Senators GM Bryan Murray. Murray sat down with TSN’s Bob McKenzie and covered a range of topics including the ongoing negotiations with Bobby Ryan and Marc Methot, the next captain, and what he expects from his team this season.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the full interview is available here. Lots of interesting stuff from the Sens’ GM.
More coming in a little bit.
