Let the good times roll!
Pierre Dorion is in some kind of zone right now so why not take care of one of the biggest items on his off-season To Do list.
Josh Norris made it pretty clear he has top line centre potential last season and today, the Ottawa Senators paid him accordingly. It’s a big money deal obviously but from the moment he was acquired from the Sharks, Norris has made it clear that he is a player worth building around.
At 23 years of age, Norris is clearly still just scratching the surface of his potential as a hockey player. And now, the Senators ensure he’ll do that in an Sens uniform for the next eight years.
-Couple other minor moves from the Senators on Day 2 of Free Agency as they added a couple pieces to the team in Belleville. Defenceman Jacob Larsson and Goalie Antoine Bibeau both signed one-year, two-way deals. Larsson. Larsson was a first round pick of the Anaheim Ducks back in 2015 and has more than 100 games of NHL experience under his belt while Bibeau split last season between the AHL and ECHL. Can never have too many goalies though.
-Speaking of goalies, Cam Talbot met with the local media earlier this morning and had lots of good things to say about the trade to Ottawa. He clearly didn’t like that Minnesota brought Marc Andre Fleury back and sees a better opportunity at an increased workload here in Ottawa. Talbot is entering the last year of his contract and set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. He’ll be eager to make a good impression with the Senators and earn another big deal this coming off-season.
