While the question of where remains unanswered, the Senators are coming back.
Earlier tonight, the NHL and NHLPA reached an agreement on a 56-game season with a January 13th start date. Training Camps would open on January 3rd for most teams but the seven non-playoff teams from last season can start on December 31st.
13 days till Sens Training Camp!
The league is aiming to set up a Board of Governors call for sometime this weekend to sort through the details. Players still need to vote on it too.
As part of tonight’s news, we’ve also learned some additional details on what the salary cap looks like and how rosters will ultimately be structured.
While most of the high-level details have been sorted out, the elephant in the room is still exactly where the Senators and the other six Canadian teams will start the season.
At the time the agreement was reached nothing had been finalized on that front but apparently the aim is to have it sorted out early next week. Although it does sound like they are close to approval on a plan that would allow Canadian teams to start in their own rinks in the all-Canadian division.
Either way…hockey is back!
Almost.
