Heading into this weekend, we knew one of Bryan Murray’s top priorities was to move one of the team’s eight defenceman.
On day two of the Draft, Murray made that happen. The Ottawa Senators have traded defenceman Eric Gryba to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a 4th round pick (107th overall) and prospect Travis Ewanyk. The move gives the Senators an extra pick in this year’s draft and gives them a little extra flexibility on the blueline. The Senators then used that draft pick to take Christian Wolanin, a defenceman from the USHL
The Senators have been busy today, picking twice in the second round (Gabriel Gagne, Filip Chlapik) and now adding two more prospects in Round 4 (Christian Wolanin, Filip Ahl).
Will have a full breakdown of Day Two of the draft later this afternoon.
