Sad news this morning as the game as lost one of its legends. Gordie Howe, aka Mr. Hockey, passed away at the age of 88.
Gordie Howe was one of those players that even though I never had the chance to watch him play, I knew he was something special.
I mean, a quick glance at his career numbers can tell you that pretty easily but it became especially obvious any time an older hockey fan would talk about Gordie Howe in his glory days.
A player that could dominate a game in so many different ways and one of the game’s first superstars. To play as long as he did (five different decades!), as well as he did, is something so rare in professional sports.
Even after his playing career, Howe remained a terrific ambassador for the sport. The game lost one of the good ones today.
Here’s a great video from the Legends of Hockey series on Gordie Howe.
