So much has happened since we last saw our beloved Ottawa Senators.
The San Jose Sharks lost a bunch of games. Alexis Lafreniere had like 20 points. The Leafs had a defence pairing of Jason Spezza and Cody Ceci for a bit there.
Through it all, the Senators remained idle. Frankly, I had just assumed Eugene Melnyk packed the team up in a truck and moved them to Houston under the cover of night.
And me?
I started exercising. I got things done around the house. I reconnected with my family and found meaning in my life. Just kidding, I mostly played with the draft simulator and stole my kid’s Halloween candy.
But none of that matters now. The candy is gone and the Ottawa Senators are BACK.
The 31st place Senators visit the 2nd place Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
Eeep.
To call this a David and Goliath match up might actually be an understatement.
Through the first part of the season, the Bruins look like one of the league’s most dominant teams. Tops in goal differential, first on the power play, first in goals against and the line of Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak continues to be one of the best trios in hockey. Pastrnak has one less point than Ottawa’s top three in that category. The Bruins have won four straight and are undefeated in regulation on home ice.
Meanwhile the Senators are….well you see Ottawa, they’ve been…the thing about the Sens is…they are well rested.
Here’s how the Senators are expected to line up for this one.
Tkachuk-L.Brown-Duclair
Namestnikov-Tierney-Ennis
Paul-Pageau C.Brown
Chlapik-Beaudin-Sabourin
Chabot-Zaitsev
Brannstrom-Hainsey
Borowiecki-DeMelo
Craig Anderson gets the start for the Senators.
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM. The game is available on Sportsnet 360.
The Ottawa Senators are going to win tonight.
