Game Day- The Biggest Game of the Year

For the last twenty minutes, I’ve been sitting here staring at a blank post.

Trying to find the right words to explain today’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

And nothing I could come up with seemed like enough.  No words that I could write here will do this game justice.  The next few paragraphs couldn’t possibly describe the run leading up to this point and the magnitude of the situation the Ottawa Senators find themselves in this afternoon.  Six weeks of incredible hockey…of heart-stopping, edge-of-your-seat excitement has led us to this. This Saturday afternoon game in Philadelphia.

It’s pretty simple…Win and we’re in….And actually, a single point against the Flyers would do it.

Thanks to some help from the out of town scoreboard the last few nights, there are a couple other scenarios that result in the Senators making the playoffs today. A Boston loss in Tampa Bay means the Senators are in. And a Penguins regulation loss against the 30th place Buffalo Sabres would get it done too.  And while it’s nice to have a couple other scenarios in play, the Senators really don’t want to be in a situation where they need help from someone else.

The Sens control their own destiny and now they have to take care of business.

Obviously no morning skate for the Senators with the early puck drop but Dave Cameron spoke to the media yesterday and confirmed that he’ll go with the same line up as the other night in New York.  Here’s how Ottawa will line up for this one.

MacArthur-Turris-Stone
Hoffman-Zibanejad-Ryan
Condra-Pageau-Lazar
Smith-Legwand-Chiasson

Methot-Karlsson
Wiercioch-Ceci
Borowiecki-Gryba

Andrew Hammond gets the start in the Ottawa goal. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 12:30 PM.

Just win.

Go. Sens. Go.
