It’s here.
We’ve talked about it for the last month. Once a post usually. It’s a phrase mentioned in the comment section, on talk radio, and in schools and offices across the city. But this time, I mean it. This time, it’s for real.
Tonight, is the Biggest Game of the Year.
I don’t need to tell you why. One of the most unlikely, incredible, non-sensical, fantastic stretches in team history has led us to this. A Thursday night game against the Boston Bruins where the stakes couldn’t possibly be higher. Win and the Senators are right there. Right on the heels of the Bruins after being all but eliminated from the race a month ago. Lose and they probably need to win 10 of 12 just to have a chance.
Yup, this time the term works. This is without a doubt, the most significant game of the Ottawa Senators’ season. Until the next one, of course.
The opposition? You know that by now. Lineup? I don’t need to tell you who’s playing. Goalie? You better know who that is. Usually I wait till after the morning skate to get the Game Day post up but we’ll get things started a little earlier than usual today.
Based on the morning skate, it looks like Jared Cowen comes out while Eric Gryba returns. Here’s how the Senators are expected to line up for this one.
Hoffman-Zibanejad-Ryan
Michalek-Turris-Stone
Condra-Pageau-Lazar
Puempel-Legwand-Chiasson
Methot-Karlsson
Wiercioch-Ceci
Borowiecki-Gryba
Puck drop is at 7:38 PM.
Go. Sens. Go.
