Game Day- The Biggest Game of the Year

Ok, ok- THIS is the biggest game of the year.

The wins over the Buffalo Sabres and the Calgary Flames were a great way to kick off this short three game home stand but things get serious tonight.

The team the Senators are chasing, the team that never seems to lose lately, the big bad Boston Bruins roll into the Canadian Tire Centre for a game that will go a long way towards deciding the final wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference this season.

Warmer weather and meaningful games in March- it’s the best time of year to be a hockey fan.

The Senators head into tonight’s action trailing the Bruins by five points but with a game in hand. Part of the reason that gap seems so manageable is because the two teams play each other twice before the season is out. If the Senators can win those games, they’ll have a great chance at grabbing that final spot in the East.

And in the biggest game of the season, the Senators will turn to their number one goalie. Dave Cameron announced Anderson as the starter yesterday suggesting that Anderson was the goalie that gave the team the best chance to win. Tough to argue that.  There has been plenty of debate about the goalie issue the last couple days but in the end, Cameron is going with his number one guy.  The Senators are going to need both goalies going down the stretch but in the biggest game of the season, you have to go with your number one.

No changes expected to the forwards which means Colin Greening is a health scratch again. Jared Cowen was taking some reps on that third pairing so we’ll wait and see what the Coach says after the skate. If Cowen is in, Borowiecki would be the odd man out. Here’s how Cameron has his team lined up at the morning skate.

Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:30 PM. There are still some tickets available if you want to head down to the CTC for the biggest regular season game in years.
