Listen, there won’t be many times we get to use a headline like this so let’s just go for it.
One win isn’t really a streak, you say? Prove it. The Islanders are on an actual winning streak of five games that makes our one game winning streak look ridiculous, you say? Mind your own damn business.
Anyway, like I was saying, the red-hot Ottawa Senators, winners of one straight and one of their last one, play host to the New York Islanders tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre.
An immovable object meets an unstoppable force! Eastern Conference powerhouses collide! Buckle up!
DJ Smith met with the media earlier today and as expected, he plans to go with the same line up as the other night against Detroit. Make sense because that was probably Ottawa’s best sixty minute effort of the season.
Colin White and Artem Anisimov will both miss this one and a whole lot more with what seem like lingering injuries. Colin White is out 3-5 weeks with a groin/hip flexor injury and Artem Anisimov is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a lower body injury.
Great chance for Logan Brown, who looked pretty good in his season debut on Wednesday night. You can tell he’s committed to addressing his perceived weaknesses, in particular his defensive play. On a handful of occasions against Detroit, Brown was the first guy back to break up a play on defence.
This is never going to be his strength but it’s a great sign that he’s taking the advice the organization is giving him.
Here’s how the Senators are expected to line up.
Tkachuk-L.Brown-Duclair
Namestnikov-Tierney-Ryan
Paul-Pageau-C.Brown
Ennis-Beaudin-Sabourin
Chabot-Zaitsev
Brannstrom-Hainsey
Borowiecki-DeMelo
Anders Nilsson gets the start for Ottawa.
Puck drop is scheduled for precisely 7:38 PM. The game is available on your television, or your computer, or your radio, or your phone or can be viewed directly with your eye balls down at the local hockey rink.
And now, what you came here to see, the often imitated but never duplicated HEAD2HEAD table, featuring a proverbial cornucopia of statistical analysis that should really be safely hidden behind a paywall.
