A night after an impressive win over the Calgary Flames, the Senators return to the ice at the Canadian Tire Centre looking to stretch their win streak to three against Eric Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Playoff hopes are still pretty slim and the situation hasn’t really changed a whole lot. They have eight games left to play and probably need to win all of them to have a chance at grabbing one of the two wild cards spots in the Eastern Conference. Just one other game of significance tonight as the Panthers visit the New Jersey Devils. The Sens could use a favour from the Panthers in that one.
This morning the Senators announced they recalled forward Jean Gabriel Pageau from Binghamton of the American Hockey League.
Pageau has 41 points in 44 games with the BSens and has earned another look up here. He’ll take Jason Spezza’s spot in the line up. Spezza was injured in last night’s game against Calgary and is being held out for precautionary reasons. Jared Cowen is also out with an injury suffered in last night’s game. Just an optional morning skate for the Senators today so we’ll have to wait until game time to see how MacLean lines them up. A best guess at tonight’s line up.
