Just six games remaining in the regular season.
They still aren’t quite mathematically eliminated but it’s getting pretty close to the end for the Ottawa Senators. The Columbus Blue Jackets now sit seven points clear of the Sens and really don’t look like a team that plans on collapsing down the stretch. So while I’m not quite ready to give up hope, that 0.3% chance isn’t exactly encouraging.
For the players in the room, it’s just important that they can finish this season on a positive note and feel a little better about themselves heading into the summer. For the fans, a home ice win against the Habs will take us back to better times. Here’s hoping the Senators put forward a better effort than they did against the Islanders on Wednesday night.
Paul MacLean spoke with the media this morning and indicated that Jason Spezza is healthy (enough) and ready to return to the Ottawa line up. Even with Spezza returning, Jean Gabriel Pageau will remain with the big club for the time being. It’s nice that they are going to give Pageau another crack at the Habs on home ice. Just an optional skate this morning so a best guess at how MacLean will line ‘em up.
