The Ottawa Senators put together a pretty impressive win last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It probably wasn’t quite the full sixty minute effort Dave Cameron has been hoping for but they shook off a slow start and allowed their big guns to take over the hockey game. And to do that on the road, against a desperate Columbus team…the Senators will take that every time.
They’ll be looking for a similar performance against tonight’s opponent- the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Back to back games are always tough, especially when the other team is sitting at home waiting for you to arrive. Tonight’s matchup is only made more difficult by the fact that like the Jackets, the Penguins are still looking for their first win of the year.
Like every year, this is a talented yet flawed Penguins roster. While they have loads of talent up front, their defence remains a little thin. Although surprisingly, that hasn’t really been their biggest issue in the early going. They’ve scored just three goals through three games. You can bet Crosby, Malkin and the rest of the offensively-starved Penguins will throw everything they have at the Senators tonight.
Only an optional skate for Ottawa this morning so we’ll have to wait until a little closer to puck drop to find out exactly what Dave Cameron has in mind with his line combinations. What we do know for sure is that Clarke MacArthur sits this one out and Shane Prince draws in to take his place.
A best guess at tonight’s line up although it’s possible the LW’s on line two, three and four are all switched up. We shall see.
