Game Day – Senators Visit Red Wings in Detroit

See, the thing about the preseason is it’s kind of the worst.

Okay, maybe that’s a bit harsh. It’s still hockey and it’s still the Sens but with two games left to go, this preseason hockey thing has become a bit of an inconvenience.

These last couple games feel a bit like my approach to parenting in some situations – I sit there, watching things happen at an alarming and dangerous speed, and just kind of mutter “careful” every once and awhile and hope for the best. It doesn’t make them BE careful but it does allow me to say, “I told ya to be careful” when they inevitably get hurt.

The Ottawa Senators visit the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.

Based on some of the lineup shuffling yesterday, it seems like Travis Green is also planning to mutter “careful” to his players heading into the final weekend of the preseason.

The Senators play the Red Wings tonight and then host the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow but outside of a couple of decisions, the roster is mostly set. Decisions to be made on the fourth line and on the third defence pairing but we have a pretty good sense of how the Senators would like to line up on Opening Night.

Something like this…

Tkachuk-Stützle-Giroux
Greig-Norris- Batherson
Perron-Pinto-Amadio
Gregor-Ostapchuk/Jenik- Cousins
Gaudette-MacEwen

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Yakemchuk/Hamonic/Bernard-Docker

Yet ahead of the weekend, the team has recalled seven guys from Belleville.

Safe to assume all seven of those guys will play tonight.

No official Game Day skate for the Senators this morning but as expected, not exactly the A-Team travelling to the Motor City.

Puck drop in Detroit is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200 and all across the information super-highway.

Anyway, CAREFUL.
