The thing about turning a corner is, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be clear sailing after you make that turn. The Sens found that out the hard way.
Heading into that game against the New York Rangers on Saturday night, it looked like the Senators had it all figured out. Then they got up by a couple and suddenly, they had the look of a team that might never lose again. That was until the Rangers reeled off seven quick ones and Nashville scored the first three on Monday night.
We’re dooooooooomed again, seemed to be the consensus after twenty minute. And then a weird thing happened. Ottawa responded to adversity in a positive way, battled back with four straight and won the game in overtime. We’ve turned the corner again!
The Ottawa Senators look to build on that comeback win when they play their last game before the All Star Break against the surprisingly cranky Detroit Red Wings.
Could be some lingering bad blood between these two teams as according to recent quotes, the Red Wings are somehow still mad about what looked like a nothing play way back on December 10th. It’s not entirely clear who they would be mad at but they’re definitely mad. Not so mad that they would do something about it that night of course but rather the kind of anger where you hang to that vengeance for a couple months.
Stay tuned!
After tonight, the Sens won’t play again till February 10th against the Toronto Maple Leafs. That’s a full nine days without a hockey game. Open to suggestions on new hobbies by the way because that is far too long without Sens hockey.
Here’s how they lined up this morning…
Joseph-Stützle-Giroux
Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Grieg-Pinto-Tarasenko
Kubalik-Kastelic-Kelly
Sanderson-Zub

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM in Detroit. The game is available on Sportsnet and on TSN1200 and on streaming sites all across the information super-highway.
