It’s sort of amazing how quickly things unravelled for the Ottawa Senators.
After reeling off three straight victories on home ice, they had the look of a team that had finally turned a corner. Ready to make that long-awaited push for a playoff spot. And now, after a bizarre week filled with losses, injuries and gambling-related suspensions, there is an overwhelming sense of ‘here we go again’. The fix is pretty easy though.
Win a damn hockey game.
The Ottawa Senators visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 28th.
With the injuries to Thomas Chabot and Erik Brannstrom, it appears as though the Senators will be down three of their top six defenceman for the foreseeable future. Artem Zub’s status is still a bit of a mystery but he’s not on the road trip so is definitely gonna need a bit more time.
As expected, the Senators will turn to Belleville for some help. This morning, they announced that Tyler Kleven and Nikolas Matinpalo have been recalled from the American Hockey League. Safe to assume they’ll both dress tonight.
The Senators are on the ice for a Game Day skate at 11:30 AM this morning so we’ll find out more about the lineup then.
