After disastrous one-game homestand where they lost every single friggin’ game, the Ottawa Senators are back on the road again.
Except this time, the trip is eight games shorter and trip only lasts a few hours. The Sens visit the Penguins on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
No Game Day skate with the early start so we’ll have to look to yesterday’s practice for clues on how the Senators might line arrange themselves for the proceedings.
Both Matthew Highmore and Zack MacEwen have been recalled from Belleville which means changes are guaranteed. Noah Gregor left the game against Buffalo with a lower body injury and Travis Green suggested it could be some time before he returns. And while both Michael Amadio and David Perron have been skating it doesn’t seem like they’re quite ready.
Meanwhile Nick Jensen also missed practice yesterday and it’s not clear if he’s ready to go.
So basically, who knows. Here’s how they lined up yesterday.
Tkachuk-Stützle-Greig
Giroux-Norris-Batherson
Ostapchuck/Highmore-Pinto-Cousins
Reinhardt-Gaudette-MacEwen
Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Guenette/Jensen
Kleven-Matinpalo
I would think we see Leevi Merilainen get the start but they’ll need both goalies to start this weekend. Meanwhile Linus Ullmark has apparently located his skates, which is a step in the right direction.
Puck drop is scheduled for 4:08 PM in Pittsburgh. No time for a pregame snooze and a great opportunity to get this Saturday pointed in the right direction. The game is on TSN5 and TSN1200 and available in like 6K streaming for SensChirp Premium members.
Wondering how these teams match up but also recognize that a horrible curse has fallen upon the HEAD2HEAD table? Same.
I am embarrassed to admit how long that took me.
Win a friggin’ hockey game, Sens.
