After a brief one game pit stop at the Canadian Tire Centre, the Senators are now back on the road to take on an Atlantic Division rival in the Boston Bruins.
The Senators will return home for four straight (DET, MIN, WPG, TOR) after tonight’s game in Beantown. The strong start has Ottawa in a pretty good spot and a quick glance at the next five games shows that Ottawa has a great opportunity to continuing banking points and climbing up the Eastern Conference standings.
The way things have gone against the Bruins the past few seasons, it’s hard to imagine there’s a good time to play in Boston. But this may be as good a time as any. The Bruins are banged up right now with their two most important defencemen out of the lineup. Both Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug are nursing serious injuries and their absence leaves a significant hole on the Boston blueline. The Bruins are 6-6-0 through their first 12 games and just barely edged the lowly Buffalo Sabres in their last game on Thursday night.
Certainly can’t take this Boston team lightly but this is a good opportunity for Ottawa to make a statement against a division rival.
Update- Robin Lehner gets the start in the Ottawa goal. No other lineup changes expected for the Senators.

-We’ve all been waiting for some good news on the Marc Methot front. This back-injury of his has been an unpredictable one and not having him beside Erik Karlsson has been a serious issue for the Sens’ blueline. Well yesterday Methot was back on the ice and in full gear for the first time since training camp. It’s a small step in the right direction. Still no timelines being placed on his injury but clearly there has finally been some progress. Nothing new on a contract extension either.
