Game Day – Senators Travel to Chicago on Wednesday Night

The thing is, it’s not even really that windy there.

The Ottawa Senators continue their quick two-game road trip with a stop in Chicago to take on the Blackhawks.

Last night served as a good reminder that there are really no nights off from here on out. Sure, there will be days when the Sens don’t play but with the standings as tight as they are, scoreboard watching is definitely part of the equation.

The Senators got all sorts of favours on Tuesday.

Columbus, Detroit and Boston all lost in regulation. Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Buffalo lost too. Outside of the Islanders win over the Jets, it really was a perfect night from Ottawa’s perspective.

It only really matters if they can take care of their own business though. Tonight’s opponent may be sitting right near the bottom of the Western Conference but they’ve won a couple games in a row and been scoring goals at an electric rate lately, including 16 in their last three games. Also, the Senators have always kind of struggled in Chicago.

Definitely not an opponent that the Senators can take lightly.

Starting better has to be a focus for Travis Green’s team tonight. They showed a ton of fight battling back against the Capitals on Monday but that’s definitely not a sustainable approach down the stretch. Have to be ready to from the opening faceoff.

Same lineup as the other night in Washington.

Tkachuk-Stützle-Giroux
Perron-Norris-Batherson
Greig-Pinto-Amadio
Gregor-Gaudette-Highmore

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Hamonic-Mantinpalo

Linus Ullmark starts.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:38 PM in Chicago. The game is available on Sportsnet and on the radio at TSN1200. Illegal internet streams are an option too for the more adventurous among us.

I’d love to tell you how these two teams match up but frankly, I can’t risk it.
